Your wedding day should feel exciting, meaningful, and easy to navigate.
At Married in Miami, the experience is intentionally designed to remove much of the stress that comes with a traditional wedding. You are not coordinating dozens of vendors, managing an all-day venue rental, or wondering what happens next.
But there are still a few important things every couple should take care of before arriving.
Use this checklist to make sure you are completely ready to say “I Do.”
Your Married in Miami Wedding Day Checklist
Before leaving for your wedding, make sure you have:
- Your valid Florida marriage license
- Government-issued photo identification
- Your confirmed Married in Miami reservation information
- Your final confirmed guest count
- Any approved personal items or decorations
- Wedding attire and accessories
- Rings, if you are exchanging them
- Any personal vows you plan to read
- Any special ceremony requests that were approved in advance
- Plenty of time to arrive early
Most importantly, plan to arrive at least one hour before your confirmed reservation time.
Here is what couples should know in more detail.
1. Make Sure Your Marriage License Is Ready
The most important item is your Florida marriage license.
Florida law requires an authorized officiant to have a properly issued marriage license before performing the legal marriage ceremony. Miami-Dade also states that the ceremony must take place on or after the license’s effective date and within 60 days after the license was issued.
Do not wait until your wedding day to begin the marriage-license process.
Before arriving at Married in Miami, confirm that:
- your license has already been issued
- the effective date has arrived
- the information on the license is correct
- you have the original license available for the ceremony
If you completed a qualifying premarital course as part of the marriage-license process, make sure any required completion documentation has already been handled with the Clerk.
2. Bring Your Identification
Even though your identification was required when obtaining your marriage license, it is smart for both partners to have a valid government-issued photo ID with them on the wedding day.
Keep your IDs, marriage license, reservation information, and any other important documents together so you are not searching for paperwork shortly before the ceremony.
3. Arrive at Least One Hour Early
This is particularly important at Married in Miami.
Our wedding experiences operate on reserved time slots, which allows us to provide couples with a private, organized experience while keeping the day running smoothly for everyone.
We recommend arriving:
At least one hour before your confirmed reservation time.
That gives you time to:
- park and enter without rushing
- check in
- make sure your paperwork is ready
- make final attire adjustments
- gather your guests
- take care of any last-minute details
- prepare mentally for the ceremony
Arriving early does not extend your reserved wedding experience. It simply helps ensure that your scheduled experience can begin on time.
Late arrival may reduce the amount of time available for your ceremony, photographs, celebration, or other activities included with your package.
4. Know How Much Time Your Package Includes
Your wedding package determines how much private experience time has been reserved for you.
For example, Married in Miami’s standard experiences may include either a one-hour or two-hour private reservation, depending on the package selected.
That reserved period may include your ceremony, photography time, use of designated spaces, celebration time, and other package-specific benefits.
Your reservation should conclude within the time included with your package unless additional time was requested and approved in advance.
Additional time should never be assumed to be available on the wedding day because another couple may have a reservation immediately afterward.
5. Confirm Your Guest Count Before Wedding Day
Your package also determines how many people may attend.
Married in Miami currently structures its primary experiences around different guest capacities:
Just Us is designed for the couple.
Family & Friends accommodates up to 10 guests.
The Celebration accommodates up to 20 guests.
Larger groups or experiences requiring greater flexibility can be handled through The Custom Experience.
Make sure everyone understands who has actually been included in your confirmed guest count.
Showing up with additional guests who were not included in the reservation can create unnecessary complications on a day that should be stress-free.
If your guest count changes, contact Married in Miami before the wedding day.
6. Bring Your Rings
This one sounds obvious.
It is also exactly the kind of thing couples forget when they are excited.
If you plan to exchange rings during the ceremony, decide ahead of time:
- who is bringing them
- where they will be kept
- whether a guest or family member will hold them
- whether you want them incorporated into a specific part of the ceremony
Put one person in charge of the rings rather than assuming someone else has them.
7. Have Your Wedding Attire Completely Ready
Your Married in Miami experience is designed to be streamlined, so wedding day is not the time to discover that something important is still at home.
Before leaving, check:
For either partner:
- wedding outfit
- shoes
- jewelry
- rings
- veil or headpiece
- tie or bow tie
- belt
- cuff links
- bouquet or personal flowers, if applicable
- makeup or grooming items for touch-ups
If you are changing into your wedding attire before arriving, give yourself far more time than you think you will need.
Miami traffic does not care that you are getting married.
8. Decide Whether You Want Personal Vows
Your ceremony does not have to feel generic simply because it is efficient.
If you want to exchange personal vows, prepare them beforehand.
You can:
- write them on a small card
- print them
- save them on your phone
- memorize them, if you are confident you will remember them
Short vows can be just as meaningful as long ones.
If you want prayer, scripture, a blessing, or another meaningful element incorporated into the ceremony, discuss that with Married in Miami ahead of time so your officiant knows what you would like.
9. Review Any Special Ceremony Requests in Advance
Do not save major requests for the moment you arrive.
If you want something specific incorporated into your ceremony or experience, communicate it before wedding day.
That can include things such as:
- particular ceremony wording
- religious elements
- special music
- approved decorations
- photography requests
- involvement of children or family members
- an outside photographer or videographer
- another approved vendor
The more Married in Miami knows beforehand, the smoother the experience can be.
10. Remember the Venue Rules
A few simple house rules help ensure every couple receives the experience they reserved.
No Outside Food or Beverages
Outside food and beverages are not permitted unless specifically approved as part of a custom arrangement.
No Alcohol
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at Married in Miami.
Any beverage service included with a wedding experience is non-alcoholic.
No Smoking or Vaping
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the venue.
Outside Vendors Require Approval
Photographers, videographers, entertainers, decorators, and other outside vendors must be approved in advance.
Do not arrive on wedding day with an outside vendor that Married in Miami was not expecting.
Decorations Must Be Approved
Any decorations, signs, equipment, or other items brought into the venue must be approved beforehand and may not damage or alter the space.
11. Plan Your Photographs
Photography is one of the best ways to make a shorter wedding experience feel substantial and memorable.
Depending on your package, your experience may include dedicated time for:
- couple photographs
- family photographs
- group photographs
- guest photographs
- use of the Married in Miami Selfie Suite
Think about your must-have photographs beforehand.
For example:
- couple alone
- couple with parents
- couple with children
- entire guest group
- siblings
- grandparents
- best friends
Having a mental list prevents you from remembering an important photograph after everyone has already left.
12. Tell Your Guests to Arrive Early Too
You arriving early does not help much if half of your guests arrive after the ceremony begins.
Send everyone the location and arrival instructions ahead of time.
Remind guests:
- where Married in Miami is located
- what time they should arrive
- that the ceremony operates on a reserved schedule
- that parking and Miami traffic should be factored into their plans
- that guest limits and venue rules apply
Avoid giving guests the exact ceremony time as their requested arrival time.
Give them an earlier arrival time.
13. Put Your Phones Away for the Important Part
Take photographs.
Take videos.
Post them afterward.
But during the actual ceremony, give yourselves permission to experience it.
Your ceremony may only last a small portion of the day, but it is the reason everyone is there.
Look at each other.
Listen to the vows.
Hear the words being spoken.
Remember the moment.
There will be plenty of time for phones afterward.
14. After the Ceremony, Your Marriage License Must Be Completed
Following the wedding ceremony, the authorized officiant completes the required certification on the marriage license.
Florida law requires the completed license to be transmitted back to the issuing Clerk within 10 days after the ceremony.
This is the administrative step that completes the legal record of the ceremony.
If you have questions about what happens to your marriage license after you say “I Do,” ask the Married in Miami team before leaving.
15. Enjoy the Experience
This may be the most important item on the checklist.
One reason Married in Miami exists is because getting married has become unnecessarily complicated for many couples.
Your wedding does not need to become a year-long project.
You do not need 15 vendors.
You do not need a 200-person guest list.
And you do not need to spend your wedding day managing logistics.
By the time you arrive at Married in Miami, the hard part should already be finished.
You have chosen each other.
You have reserved your experience.
You have taken care of the legal requirements.
Now you get to enjoy the moment.
